Uma & Clan Experience
Travel from Padang to the rainforest, stay in a traditional Uma, and spend time with two Mentawai clans through daily life and forest activities.
Day by day
Departure is Tuesday or Saturday. The exact pace of each day follows weather, ferry timing, and life in the forest.
Day 1
Meet at Padang port at 06:30 for the 07:00 Mentawai Fast. The journey takes around five hours, including transit in Sikabaluan, North Siberut. After reaching South Siberut, continue to Muntei Village to rest and prepare supplies. At around 16:10, take a small boat along the river into the rainforest and settle into the Uma.
Day 2
Spend the day with a Mentawai clan in their traditional longhouse. Join daily activities, learn about culture and traditions, and experience forest life with the Sikerei and family. Respect for the people, their home, and their way of life is essential.
Days 3–4
After breakfast, prepare your belongings and leave at around 08:00–08:30 for another Uma, walking approximately 1.5–2 hours depending on the clan. Join forest activities with the Sikerei and local family, return to the Uma, make a traditional Mentawai bracelet, and share dinner and stories.
Day 5
After breakfast, travel by river boat back to Muntei Village for a rest and lunch, then continue to the harbor for the Mentawai Fast back to Padang.
