Before you travel

Simple answers,
from local guides.

Where and when does the journey start?

Meet in Padang at 06:30 for the 07:00 Mentawai Fast ferry. Oncy's team meets you in Siberut and continues by road and river canoe to Muntei and the forest.

What is included?

Meals during the trip, porter, Siberut transfers, local Uma accommodation, licensed English and Mentawai-speaking guide, entry permit, activities, return ferry tickets, and hotel-to-port transport in Padang.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No advance payment is required. The old tour policy states that payment is made in person after you meet Oncy. Confirm the latest terms directly before travel.

What should I expect in the forest?

Prepare for heat, rain, mud, simple accommodation, uneven trails, and a different rhythm of life. Bring grippy shoes, dry clothes, a flashlight, waterproof bags, and insect repellent—and always respect local people and culture.
